what's next for Fergie?

Rhoda was surprised like everyone else when Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, was caught in the toe-sucking incident with her financial advisor John Bryan in 1992, just six years after she married Prince Andrew, but when the couple later divorced and remained good friends, living together leading separate lives, Rhoda began to understand that their marriage, like hers, was one of convenience and she expected Fergie to go on to accomplish great things – and her expectations were met, until the recent scandal exposed a Fergie so desperate for money that she’d sell out the royal family.

”It has been reported that Fergie has been living way beyond her means and has amassed huge debts – debts big enough for bankruptcy proceedings,” sighs Rhoda, “but I can’t believe that she was so desperate for cash that she’d get entangled with some shady sheik and not realize that it was a sting to discredit her, possibly leading to a criminal conviction.”

“What worries me most about her situation is the tax implications of the ‘cash for introductions’ scheme she was trying to pull off,” says Rhoda, “especially as she is now facing investigation after being caught on film accepting a large wad of cash.”

“Also, lots of people are left wondering whether this was the first time she had accepted cash for an introduction to Prince Andrew, whether she had declared the money to the tax authorities, and whether Prince Andrew was involved in the scheme or was an innocent participant,” explains Rhoda. “There is evidence that someone from her circle set her up for the News of the World sting, which indicates that that she had done it before and got away with it, presumably also without paying tax.”

“The implications for Prince Andrew are also bad,” explains Rhoda. “If he was involved in the scheme, knowingly using his government position as the United Kingdom's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment to give business favors in return for enriching his impoverished ex-wife, then that’s fraud and corruption.”

“Already the royal family is distancing itself from Fergie,” says Rhoda, “so there is no way Prince Andrew will take the rap, even if he deserves it, and this places Fergie in a precarious position.”

“If she has evidence of Prince Andrew’s involvement then she can bargain with the royal family to take the rap herself, absolving her ex-husband from guilt, in return for enough money to keep her in luxury for the rest of her life and a royal pardon,” explains Rhoda, “but if, indeed, it is her scheme and Prince Andrew is being used as a sap, then she may be out in the cold – permanently – and can trash the royal family as much as she likes, as others have done, but they will not be bothered by anything she says because she has exposed herself to the world as a greedy, shameless moneygrubber.”
